After losing World War I, Germany suffered severe economic and political difficulties. The documentary below provides some background on this historical period, and explains how these conditions ultimately led to the rise of Adolph Hitler and the National Socialist German Workers' Party (Nationalzocialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei).​

 

Importantly, these same conditions set the stage for the development of the German Expressionist Movement.
